Temples & Sacred Places
We saw many temples and sacred places. Buddhists do not have churches like many religions. People gather at the temples (which have no interiors) since the climate is suitable for gathering outside year round.
When the British took control of Sri Lanka in 1815, most historical sites were in very poor condition. Most of these sites were restored to a large degree by the British.
