The British built most of the railroads in Sri Lanka. Hardly any new railrods have been built since they gained independence from Britain 70 years ago. Switches, ticketing and record keeping are all still done manually.

Ceiling fans are the only form of air conditioning in many cars. Actually, most cars don't even have fans.
