Sri Lankans are very entrepreneurial. The will set up a shack (little more than a lean-to), to sell things - mostly food.
Wherever we went there were school "sports" days.
Our driver "Sam" with his lovely wife and daughter. They live in Kandy and since we stayed just outside Kandy for 3 nights, Sam was able to spend those nights with his family. Sam was the best driver one could hope for.
Clothes are hung out to dry in every conceivable location. As you will see, rooftops are particularly popular.
The kids all wore uniforms to school - even kids from the poorest families. These kids spoke quite good English which they learn in school. Kids are kids all over the world. They love posing for the camera.
For some, this spring is their only source of fresh water.
Such street food was available almost everywhere but we were never brave (or stupid) enough to try it.
