We stayed at Cinnamon Wild resort which was about 2km from Yala national park. When they say "wild", they mean "wild". This wild boar was lazing in the mud just outside our cabin. At night we were required to have a staff escort to the main restaurant and pool area - in case of elephants or crocodiles passing through.
The ever-present monkeys required us to keep our door closed. Otherwise, they would nip into our room in the blink of an eye and steel things - mostly food but often valuables too.
Our hotel on the south coast just east of Galle was one of the nicest. With only 12 rooms it was easy to be spoiled. Our room had a private sun deck with an equally private dipping pool / jacuzzi.
Sunset dinner on the lawn.
We stayed at the Galle Face Hotel in Columbo on our last night. It is a grand old colonial hotel and much bigger than anywhere else that we stayed.
